What kind of flooring is suitable for your factory? Many of the operator may be confuse on the latest flooring that they can choose. For the pass 5 to 10 years, you can always see green color, light grey color floor with red or yellow line for the factory. When the floor is new, it looks really good. However after 2-3 years, epoxy flooring start peeling off due to forklift traffic on top of it everyday, or trolley with heavy stuff, and the sand or small stone on the floor with traffic, the epoxy floor getting scratches and slowly wear off.
At this moment, what to be done? what can be done? Factory operator may get the epoxy contractor to come over to check on the floor, then the contractor may tell him, you can recoat the floor with another layer of epoxy. For the damage area, we can patch back for you. Then time over time… you may have 2-3 or even 4 layer of the epoxy coating on top of the floor.
I have no issue on epoxy flooring if the epoxy flooring being done in a proper manner. Most of the operator may not understand how the epoxy should be applied, even some of the designer also confuse how to do epoxy flooring.. If you google on applying epoxy floor, you will find many way to do it, but common one is 1 primer coat, 2 finishing coat.

For 1 primer coat and 2 finish coat, this is like how we paint on the wall at our home. 1 layer primer is to prepare the floor to take the finishing epoxy coating. and 2 layer of finishing coating should take 2 different days to lay. Not same day, morning and afternoon, if you wanna do properly.
However what mention above, we personally think is not enough as epoxy flooring will peel off or damage by many other factor. The most serious one is moisture from the ground. We will suggest for ground floor factory floor, you must do a moisture test beforehand. then only decide should go for direct epoxy or not. If the moisture is high, mean you need to do a moisture barrier before apply epoxy. For moisture barrier will be around 2-3 mm thickness. Then only apply 2 layer of epoxy on top.
But the better choice for it, will be not only 2 layer of ‘paint’ epoxy, but please go for self leveling epoxy which is another 1-2 mm, or some brand will be 2-3mm thickness.
Who will be the one understand better which kind of flooring can last longer? I can tell you, is the contractor who has been asked to remove the epoxy floor. Epoxy floor is difficult to remove by grinding. However ‘paint’ epoxy is not difficult to remove, unless already have 2-3 layer on it. But self leveling epoxy layer is extremely difficult to remove and usually contractor will choose not take the business.
